HOW:WHY:THE FISH:THE BIRDS (detail) - textile materials- 3x6m- 2022
The shared mind and monotony of fish and birds provide a certain comfort I believe unobtainable by humans but I think trains are as close as we can get to this. There is something inexplicably calming in that. Finding comfort surrounded by strangers simultaneously existing in metal boxes and mindlessly following their routines I create an entirely made-up world with these people at its centre. Various textile silhouettes create this comforting crowd. Each pattern, colour and size represent a type of person I encounter on the train. Connected by a red pulse, together they create this mini world I have chosen to share.
